This
article aims to approach the main legal and political issues involving
trial 470, known as Mensalao, a scheme of the ruling party to buy
votes, and its possible implications for Brazilian democratization,
following decades of authoritarian regimes and an incomplete
transitional justice, partially done through reparations. It also
questions the possible implications of this highly politicized judgment
to the consolidation of Brazilian democracy.
